Church Clean Up with Synod

We extend our heartfelt thanks to our friends at Synod of the Northeast who visited Shinnecock last weekend for their Indigenous Mission Day. We were one of two Tribal Nations they visited, alongside the Ramapough Lenape Indian Nation. On Saturday, September 28, Synod volunteers toured the Shinnecock Nation Cultural Center & Museum and later assisted with cleaning and minor repairs at the Shinnecock Presbyterian Church. The following day, Rev. SanDawna Gaulman Ashley delivered a guest sermon at the morning service, during which she received a gift from Sunksqua Linda Franklin.

Synod's connection to Shinnecock began through the documentary "Conscience Point," which explores Shinnecock's relationship with Southampton Town and focuses on activist Rebecca Genia. Their first visit to Shinnecock took place in 2020. This group is committed to eradicating racism and discrimination while healing the fractured relationships between the Church and Tribal Nations.

Tabutne to Synod and the volunteers for their invaluable assistance this weekend.
