Shinnecock transitional housing

The Shinnecock Indian Housing Rehabilitation Program is available to enrolled Shinnecock Tribal Members who currently reside in their homes. The program currently addresses housing needs that include reconstruction and rehabilitation, disabled accessibility (ramps and rails), weatherization, energy efficient upgrades (heating), as well as mold remediation.

The Shinnecock Indian Housing Rehabilitation Program assistance applications are processed in the order in which they are received. Elders who have eminent health or safety concerns may be prioritized. Program eligibility is income-based as defined by local HUD guidelines.

Housing assistance applicants who have previously applied to the program and received assistance must wait a 2-year period before reapplying.

Housing applications are available online or in the Housing Department via email ( or phone (631) 973-6018.

The Housing Department also helps with the application process for programs available through outside entities including: Food Stamps, Medicaid The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), Project Warmth and Community Development Corporation of Long Island (CDCLI).

Please contact the Housing Department to find out more about these programs and if you are eligible.
